Great article Stephanie! To me, even in winter ‘our name’ is what we aspire to be. And without that seasonal ‘clench’, we wouldn’t truly appreciate the release that only a warm summer evening can bring.

I love your descriptions of winter. Even though Canadians love to go south for the sun, it is a precious period where here you can really feel the earth resting before it’s emergence in spring. We should all live in harmony with that kind of rhythm. must be my neopaganism coming out! I also really enjoyed your info about the basis of the town’s name. It always feels like there is a special earth energy here.

This is a beautifully written article Stepahanie! Born and raised here, and never knew the meaning of the name Summerland before. Hopefully after living here in earth life…we will get to go straight to Summerland on the other side! Thanks for this.
